G670 RV vs. G169 RSA
Posted by Dve from Mason, OH, US on May 26, 2009

My 2008 Damon motorhome has G67 RV 255/70R22.5 and I need to replace the steer tires. The local dealer does not sell the G670, but has suggested the G169. What would be the pros or cons of the switch?

I suggest the G670 RV tires for your motorhome. If it is a Goodyear dealer, he should have no problem getting the tires even if he currently has none in stock.

recommended tire inflation pressure
Posted by bill from nashville, TN, US on May 12, 2009

I need a source for labels(stickers) that can be placed above the fender well of our trucks that show techs and others the recommended tire inflation pressure.

Tire inflation pressure stickers are available at the American Trucking Association at the following web address http://www.atabusinesssolutions.com/p-46-ata-tire-inflation-update-decals.aspx

rivering tires
Posted by Roger from Cheyenne, WY, US on May 9, 2009

I have a class A rv with Goodyear G670’s and I am experiencing rivering on some of the tires. I have heard their is nothing that can be done. Is that correct?

Most people call this river wear. It is common on tires that have a very slow rate of wear and very little scrubbing from lots of turning. You may not like the way it looks but, in a sense, it is sort of a good thing. "They" are right, not much you can do about it. The long term result will not affect the overall tread life of your tires.

what causes steer tire to wear just part way around on the out side edge of tire

This type of wear could come from a variety of sources like: assembly out-of-balance, improper mounting, worn shock absorbers, loose kingpins or improper bearing adjustment.

Motorhome Tire Pressure
Posted by John from Oswego, NY, US on May 4, 2009

Fleetwood Tioga 27′ Ford E350: OEM - Wrangler HT LT215/85R16 Load Class “D” @ 58psi. I installed Load Class ‘E’ (more plys) and they appear slightly ballooned or under inflated (unloaded motorhome). My mechanic suggested running these at max psi of 80. The GVWR = 11,200. GAWR Front = 4,200 & GAWR Rear =7,400.

(1) Please advise: using “E” and not “D” (oem) load class tires with GAWR above - what is the ideal pressure.

(2) Agree: inflate 20% over normal running pressure while stored.

To inflate to 80 psi, you have to have the load range E tire (the maximum inflation of the LR-D tire is only 65 psi. For the loads you are carrying you only need 60 psi in the front tires and 55 psi in the rear tires so, 80 psi is high and would cause a harsh ride. It is a good idea to raise the inflation pressure when storing the RV but, don't forget to check inflation pressure and reset to the recommended pressures when putting it back on the road.
