TIM I NEED A SPARE TIRE FOR MY NEW FLEETWOOD BOUNDER, I FOUND A NEW TAKE OFF WHEEL, I WANT TO PUT THE SAME TIRE ON FOR SPARE AS THE REST OF THE TIRES.

WHERE CAN I PURCHASE A NEW ONE ON LINE, AND WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO PAY ?

Difference between a 10R22.5 and an 11R22.5

Our 33000 lb class A motor coach came wih expensive 10R22.5. The 11R22.5 is standard, easy to get and cheaper. What is the difference?

Basically, a 10R22.5 is like a size 10 shoe and an 11R22.5 is like a size 11. Although the dimensions can vary slightly from brand to brand and from one tire type to another, the 11R22.5 is around a half inch taller and a half inch wider than a 10R22.5. Since it is larger, it can carry more load. Each may be mounted on a 7.5" wide rim or an 8.25" wide rim. Before buying the larger tire size, make sure that there are no clearence issues with the vehicle.

I am thinking of swapping out my stock 17 inch 265/70/R, E load range tires and wheels for a 245/70/19.5 load rating of G or H. What do you think of this swap? What would be the down side? The reason I am thinking of this is I have a pick up camper that weighs 3400 lbs, so I am a little concerned of the weight, my trucks GVWR is 9800lbs so with my truck and the camper I am at 9700 lbs, so as you can see I am close to max. I don’t want to be going down the road camping and blow a tire because of a max weight issue. What are your thoughts on this, plus it costs a lot more $$$ to swap out? What would be the pros and cons? Would performance be affected?

Going to the 245/70R19.5 size in either load range will allow you to get a steel casing/steel belted tire that is designed for commercial vehicles. This is sort of like buying a contractor's grade power saw in place of a consumer grade power saw. You pay more but get something that is more robust. What are the downsides? A more harsh ride is probably the most obvious. Traction and wear would be most affected by the actual choice of tire type and brand. The intial cost should be reduced by the fact that when your tires are worn out, the casings should have value if retreadable. If the casings are in good shape, a commercial tire dealer who handles retreads should give you a few bucks for your used casings.


Differences between a 225/70R19.5 and an 8R19.5

Other than size and weight differences, will there be any fuel economy savings or handling or loading issues between a 225/70R19.5 and a 8R19.5? I am juggling these two sizes as both will fit and both load ratings stand up to my needs. What would be differences in fuel economy or handling? This is on an F550 that I use for delivery and hot shot hauling.

The 225/70R19.5 tire is a little shorter (by about 1" in diameter) and a little wider than the 8R19.5. All other things being equal, that should mean that the 225/70R19.5 tire would improve the handling but the fuel economy would not affected negatively. But, if the "delivery" type service you describe is local, the fuel economy issue would probably be insignificant.

WE’RE MOVING OVERSEAS. I’M CONSIDERING STORING MY TRUCK, AND THE LOCAL STORAGE COMPANY DOESN’T MOVE VEHICLES IN STORAGE. IF I LEAVE MY TRUCK IN STORAGE FOR 2-3 YEARS, AND IT REMAINS STATIONARY FOR THE ENTIRE TIME, WILL THE TIRES (11K MILES ON THEM) BE PERMANENTLY DAMAGED?

If you plan to store a vehicle for a long time, it would be best to get the tires off the ground by putting the vehicle on a good set of jack stands for the storage period.
