Dually 8 Hole Space Adapters
Posted by Jim on January 7, 2007
We have a 2005 Chinook Glacier Class C motorhome on a F450 E chassis, 4 wheel drive dually. Current tires are 225/75R16. Because the total unit looks way under tired (asthetically only I’m sure), I would like to increase tire size at least a couple of sizes, however, this would require the installation of spacers on the rear wheels. Would there be any adverse issues arising out this modification. What specific tire do you recommend for; low noise, good ride, carrying 14,000 GVW?
I assume the spacers would be to create some space between the duals so you can use bigger (wider) tires. I understand that one concern in doing this can be decreased bearing life but, your dealer would know more about this than me. Your dealer would also know more about the wheelwell clearences. I also don't know if you are willing to buy new wheels or you just want to go with larger, 16" tires on the same wheels so, recommending a specific tire is difficult. Our line of G670 RV tires are offered in a variety of sizes and have many features that address the needs of RV's and RV owners.
Tire Manufacture Date

The date code on my RV tires is MJ93. This is a 1999 Gulfstream which we purchased used in 2001.
The "MJ93" is at the beginning of the DOT code on the lower sidewall of your tires. MJ93 is not a code for the date of production, it is a code for the plant where your tire were built (actually, just the letters "MJ"). The last 4 digits of the DOT designate the week and year of production of your tires...2501, for example, would mean that a tire was made during the 25th week (25)of 2001 (01).
