All Steel Tires
Posted by Craig on December 20, 2006

What are the advantages or disavantages of a all steel tire vs. a non all steel tire. The applicaton would be a LT225/75R 16 E ford E-450 chassis designed for transporting 20-25 people.

All steel tires (tires with a steel body ply and steel belts) are considered "commercial tires" at least in Goodyear terminology. This means that the are intended for use on "working trucks" on a daily basis. Tires with fabric body plys and steel belts are called "consumer tires". Occasionally, these tire might be used in some sort of working environment but, for the most part, they are on vehicles that provide transportation to a driver and a passenger or two.

Balancing
Posted by Craig on December 20, 2006

Is it necessary to balance rear tires on a light truck. I have a fleet of Ford E-450 with dual rear wheels. Tire Size is LT225/75R 16 E.

Overall, I think it is worth the time and money to balance tires in all wheel positions of nearly everything that travel over the highway.
