Harsh Ride
Posted by Leo on September 7, 2006

Some time back (2004) Newmar Corp motorhome owners began complaining about rough ride and it became conventional wisdom that this was due to the aspect ratio i.e. 275/70R22.5’s run rougher than 275/80R22.5. This makes no sense to me since its such a small increase in sidewall and I feel it must be because one can lower inflation pressure for same axle load with the larger aspect ratio tire. Would you agree?

I would agree that it is probably a combination of the increased inflation pressure AND the shorter sidewall of the lower profile tire.
