Intermodal Tires - 14 ply vs 12 ply

Tim,
Is there a performance differences between 14 ply and 12 ply tires on in the Intermodal enviroment; is one better than the other and why?
The 14 ply tire is built to carry a higher load than the 12 ply tire. The difference will depend on the tire size. If they are similar tires (brand and type) "performance" should be very similar.
