Question 93

Does the tire industry have a formula for tire life increases for a reduction in temperature? I know if you run a tire low on air pressure and it builds up heat that the life expectancy is usually lower. If you run a truck tire 50-100 degrees higher then a comparible tire what would be your expected loss of tire life if any?
Heat is a tires worst enemy. If you can keep the internal tire rubber temperature under 210 F (1" below the tire shoulder), you can run that tire troublefree. The hotter the tire runs, the faster the tread will scrub off. Running hi speed, low inflation, and heavy loads will cause even faster treadwear.
