Question 49
Posted by Allen on March 10, 2005

Ipull a hopper and the inside and outside of the tire wear before the center i do short hauls ans a lot of turnning what can i do to stop this i get about 60000 miles out of my tires and the center is still like new.

To answer your question, need to know what tire type, size, and specific wheel positions that you are referring to. Also need to know what air pressure you are currently running.

Question 48
Posted by Thomas on March 10, 2005

I am running a single rear axle, heavy duty wrecker. The front axle runs at 14,050 lbs. with the unit empty, and 6,500 to 7,000 lbs. loaded. The rear is 16,050 lbs. empty, and approximately 27,000 lbs. loaded (maximum capacity). I’m presently running Brigestone 11R24.5H M843’s at max p.s.i. in all positions, and have rotated the tires twice in 36,000 miles. The wear has been fairly even, and have not experienced any type of failure. However the tires now need to be replaced. My other similar units have averaged 58,000 to 60,000 miles without failure on either Goodyear G159’s or Brigestone R250’s before replacement. I’m looking for sugestions for a replacement, and a possible cause for the short life. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

The new G149 RSA regional service all position tire would be perfect for your application and loads. It is available in a 11R24.5 size. Tire mileages depend on routes, loads, service vocation, amount of turning, and of course the driver.
