DC Airco 12 Volt AC
Monday, October 30th, 2006 @ 11:06 am
Q. I am in the process of evaluating several different anti Idling solutions for my small fleet (21 tractors). I am leaning towards the DC Airco 8500 Split unit for AC and the ESPAR Airtronic D2 Heater coupled to 2 AGM batteries. What can you tell me about the DC Airco 8500 unit and […]
A. Roger,
I believe that you’re making the right decision on all accounts including the 2AGM batteries. Foremost, your decision, most likely has eliminated your need to idle for both heat and A/C, which is a common practice of many small fleets your size. While most fleets are weary of a battery powered technology A/C system, we have found that with proper management, these technologies work quite well. Your concern seems to be with power management but with the additional batteries that you are spec’ing, the battery draw of a battery power A/C system should not be a problem. Should you have any other questions, including references, please call 800-387-4800 and ask for our tech department.
