idle reduction

Q. Hey, it’s the 21st century. Surely there is some more efficient apu system that doesn’t include a duplicate a/c, heater, generator (alternater), and INTERNAL CUMBUSTION DIESEL ENGINE!!!! How about manufacturing class 8 trucks with an all electric heater and air conditioner, a little stouter alternater, and additional battery capacity…maybe even solar panels. […]

I do know of a few upstart companies who have been fooling around with most of the points you mention. But for the most part I suppose it does lie in the hands of the Truck Manufacturers when you talk about that kind of component / system integration. Redundant components could take a lot of cost and space out of the equation.

A. I understand your question, in my 12 years dealing with the Trucking Industry and government agencies I have never come across or heard of an International governing board that looks after highways.
