Q. WE HAVE 3 CLASS 8 TRUCKS. WHAT WOULD IT COST TO PUT A SYSTEM ON EACH TRUCK? THANKS,KEN

Question 44

Q. I presume idleing overnight takes 1 gal per hr. What does an auxiliary heating or heat/air system cost? How many nights in the truck for payback at 8 hours, $3.00 plus per gallon?
A. You are correct with your assumption on 1 gallon an hour at idle. An Espar Airtronic D2 bunk heater costs approx. $1,400 installed. Payback all depends on how often you are using the heater and that depends on where you’re travelling, are you in colder climates. We have seen on average a ROI of less than a year, with your parameters the calculation figures to pay you back in 58 days.
